Nice job
[edit]For some reason, I hadn't come across this page before, even though I'm fairly active in editing liberal arts college pages. But I just did, and I'd say it's at least as good as any other liberal arts college article I've come across on Wikipedia, and the existence of well-done spin-off articles on the campus and history adds further. With some more work it could be on the path to a GA nomination. Well done! {{u|Sdkb}} talk 08:31, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Please add Garry W. Jenkins as 9th President of Bates College
[edit]I have no idea who has made all the changes to Bates’ page over the last year, but the article needs to state that Garry W. Jenkins is the college’s new President.
Also, there’s now a box at the top stating that the article is too long, and it gives a bad impression. No one will read the whole article in its current form. Please split to create a new article about Bates’ sustainability initiatives. That section is way too long and not the reason why most people are going to look at the page. 2600:4040:9465:4000:CDEC:601D:1BA5:F865 (talk) 13:15, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- I updated the president info (and likewise on Spencer's biographical page). Thanks for flagging that detail.
- Feel free to work on a new Bates College sustainability (or whatever other title) article, either from scratch or by extracting from the main college page if you think that topic is notable itself. It seems like a fairly short section of the page though. The history section is much longer, and also already has its own History of Bates College page, so maybe the section here could be pared down? User:GuardianH did a bunch of editing here recently. DMacks (talk) 13:52, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Famous alumni of Bates College
[edit]Robert F Kennedy, JFK's brother and former attorney general of the US, is listed as an alumnus of Bates College, and his photograph appears in a list of famous alumni. I believe this to be incorrect - RFK graduated from Harvard, and his Wikipedia page lists Harvard as his alma mater. As the reference article indicates, he did spend time at Bates as part of the US Navy's V12 program in 1943, but he did not graduate from Bates, and is therefore not a famous alumnus of the college. I may be missing something, please let me know if so. 2603:7081:2640:9E:B500:89FD:A65A:1B3 (talk) 14:53, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
